Wimborne First School Prospectus

Comment from Dorset Highways Following the physical completion of highway improvement works to the junction of Allenview Road/Burts Hill in June an independent stage 3 road safety audit was conducted and all matters raised by the safety audit team have been implemented in a timely manner by the Developer, Bloor Homes. The planning permission for the wider development requires the developer to design and construct a further scheme of modest traffic calming along Burts Hill.  The detailed design for this scheme of work has been submitted to Dorset Council for approval and will include formalising the pedestrian accesses into the SANG along Burts Hill to coincide with the three existing Rights of Way that historically terminate at Burts Hill.  In addition these works will include the installation of physical traffic calming measures along this section of existing highway. As detailed in my previous update on highway matters, Dorset Council have introduced an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order at the junction of Burts Hill and Allenveiw Road.  The Council will continue to monitor and review these parking restrictions for the initial period of 6 months to ensure that the correct signing, lining and restrictions are in place.  This is a statutory process whereby the Council are able to amend the restrictions if required after 6 months to address any unforeseen issues that may arise.  Any questions or requests for further information regarding highway improvements associated with the new development can be sent to DLI@ DorsetCouncil .gov.uk Parking There will only be parking for staff cars and any parents who have a disabled permit. Please contact the school office if you need to use the disabled parking space so we can put a risk assessment in place to ensure everyone’s safety. The following pages were produced by Sustran to highlight where you can park your car safely and the safe walking zones. Last term we took a range of groups of children and adults out and measured how long it would take to walk from certain zones, this information has been included on the leaflet. If you have any concerns about road safety please contact DLI@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk at Dorset Highways who will be more than happy to help. Bikes and Sooters The bike and scooter rack will be open from September. Please note it is parents responsibility to lock your childs bike or scooter. The school does not accept any liability if it goes missing. Drop off and Pick up Please make sure that children are accompanied at all times on the school site. A parent needs to drop off and pick up from the child’s classroom door, they should not be walking around the grounds at all on their own.  29
