Wimborne First School Prospectus

Parent s Helping in School We welcome parents and carers into Wimborne First School & Nursery believing we are partners in the education of your children. There are many opportunities for parents to become involved in the life of the school and to gain a greater understanding of its work. Parents’ support and expertise can be used in many ways and is greatly valued. DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checks are carried out on all adults volunteering in school and two character references are also obtained. If you would like to help, please pick up a volunteer application form from the school office. Helping hands ‘‘ Very strong partnerships with the community enhance the development of the curriculum ’’ Links with the Community Wimborne First has many links with the local community. We enter the Wimborne in Bloom competition and a dance group regularly performs at the annual Wimborne Folk Festival. We walk the Sports relief mile around Wimborne to raise money for charity and also sing outside the Allendale Centre. Every year we visit the Priest House, which is a fantastic resource for learning outside the classroom. At Christmas the children put on a show at a local theatre, celebrate a Christingle service in Wimborne Minster, and attend the Methodist Church. 14
